Knabstrupper is a Danish breed of horse with an unusual range of coat coloration.

The Knabstrupper breed was first established in 1812 in Denmark. A chestnut mare with leopard complex blanket markings was bred to a solid-colored stallion, producing a colt with dramatic spotting. The mare and her son were each bred to many other horses, producing many offspring with spotting and establishing the Knabstrupper as a breed.

The breed is usually around 15.2 to 16 h (62 to 64 inches, 157 to 163 cm), but also pony-sized ones (under 14.2 h (58 inches, 147 cm) are found. Coat patterns range from solid to a full leopard-spotted coat, with many variants in between. The spotted coat is caused by a genetic mechanism called the leopard complex. The spotted color patterns common in the Knabstrupper are seen in other breeds, such as the Appaloosa horse, though the two breeds developed independently of one another. The breed generally has either warmblood or Baroque horse conformation.

Some Knabstruppers are born with solid colors, such as bay or chestnut.

Carmargue Horse History:

The Camargue horse is an ancient breed of horse indigenous to the Camargue area in southern France. Its origins remain relatively unknown, although it is generally considered one of the oldest breeds of horses in the world. For centuries, possibly thousands of years, these horses have lived wild in the harsh environment of the Camargue marshes and wetlands of the Rhône delta, which covers part of the départements of Gard and Bouches-du-Rhône. There they developed the stamina, hardiness and agility for which they are known today. Traditionally, they live in semi-feral conditions in the marshy land of the region. The Camargue horse is the traditional mount of the guardians, the Camargue “cowboys” who herd the black Camargue bulls used in bullfighting in southern France. Camargue horses galloping through water is a popular and romantic image of the region.

Pony Update Time! ABC developers put together a stellar update. There are so many things packed into this update, the community is going to have hours of fun discovering all the options.

The stand outs of the update are the “Accessories”, these are objects that can be selected from the menu and with a simple click attached to the breedable. The accessories will vary from breed to breed. Not all breeds will have accessories in the beginning. Just like new breeds being released in the gene pool, the accessories will be released intermittently. These types of releases are usually not announced as that is part of the fun… seeing what breed or accessories you find along the way.

ABC - Awesome Breed Creations

On top of all the amazing goodness, the ABC HUD will now function for the ponies and have all the time saving features and actions for fun that the horses have been enjoying. There are lead, follow, caretaker, etc. that can be set SIM wide for your ponies.

This update was carefully thought out and a great many of the new features were suggestions from the ABC Community. ABC has a very close and tight community that are very involved and supportive.

ABC Announces New Cloud Ranch Horses in the Olympic Series – Athena & Ares

Athena & Ares are the newest addition in line of the ABC Olympic Cloud Ranch Horses. In 2012 ABC started the Olympic CR Horses with Hades & Apollo and followed them up with Zues & Hera in 2015.

ATHENA – ANDALUSIAN
ABC - Awesome Breed Creations
The Andalusian throughout history has been known for its prowess as a war horse, and was prized by the nobility. It is a horse breed from the Iberian Peninsula, where its ancestors have lived for thousands of years. Strongly built, and compact yet elegant, Andalusians have long, thick manes and tails. They are known for their intelligence, sensitivity and docility. During the 19th century, warfare, disease and crossbreeding reduced herd numbers dramatically, and despite some recovery in the late 19th century, the trend continued into the early 20th century. Exports of Andalusians from Spain were restricted until the 1960s, but the breed has since spread throughout the world, despite their low population. In 2010, there were more than 185,000 registered Andalusians worldwide.

ARES – NORWEGIAN FJORD
ABC - Awesome Breed Creations
The Norwegian Fjord Horse is a relatively small but very strong horse breed from the mountainous regions of western Norway. It is an agile breed of light draft horse build. All Fjord horses are dun in color, with five variations in shade recognized in the breed standard. One of the world’s oldest breeds, it has been used for hundreds of years as a farm horse in Norway, and in modern times is popular for its generally good temperament. It is used both as a harness horse and under saddle.

Race Info:

Athena – Large Flat
Ares – Sled & Jousting

Gypsy Vanner History:

The Gypsy Vanner – Irish Cob or Colored Cob is a type or breed of domestic horse from the British Isles. It a small, solidly-built horse of cob conformation and is often, but not always, piebald or skewbald. It is the only broken-colored horse breed of the British Isles, and is particularly associated with the Pavee and Roma traveling peoples of Britain and Ireland. There was no stud-book or breed association for horses of this type until 1996. It is now considered a breed and can be registered with a number of breed associations. It may also be known as the Gypsy Horse, Gypsy Cob, or Tinker Horse.

From about 1850 traveling people in the British Isles began to use a distinct type of horse to pull their vardos, the caravans in which they had just begun to live and travel. The color and look of the breed were refined in the years after the Second World War.

The Gypsy Horse was bred by the Roma of Great Britain to pull the vardoes in which they lived and traveled. The Roma had arrived in the British Isles by 1500 AD, but they did not begin to live in vardoes until around 1850. Prior to that, they traveled in tilted carts or afoot and slept either under or in these carts or in small tents. The peak usage of the Gypsy caravan occurred in the latter part of the 19th century and the first two decades of the 20th. [ref: wikipedia]
