FAQs & Manuals

Question: What is the Awesome Breed Horses horse all about?

Answer: There are several things that make ABC horses a bit different than any other breedable in Second Life.

What makes Awesome Breed Horses different?

1. Market

We are going to do everything in our power to ensure that the value of your horses are maintained for longer than is currently customary in Second Life.

2. Breeding

When breeding, you start off with Starter Horses. These starter horses are nothing more than tools. They look like a horse, walk like one but are only tools. Starter Horses will be used to get information from the gene pool (what is available in the gene pool at the time of the breeding). The availability in the gene pool will come and go at the discretion of ABC. If for example there is a certain breed overpopulated, we will be removing that gene from the gene pool making it no longer available to starter horses. Please understand when there is a change in the gene pool, it will not be announced publicly by ABC; it will just happen. The reasoning is that when a new horse is introduced, ABC does not want to adversely affect the pre-existing market.

3. Auctions

ABC requires Auction House to report auction results which become a Market Report that is available to the community on the ABC website. The Market Report will include the following information, but not limited to the following:

Sale price of the horses auctioned

The breed of the horse auctioned

The traits of the horses auctioned

The ABC community will be able to view market trends and utilize that knowledge to grow their business.

4. Traits

In other Breedables in Second Life, items like fuzzy tails, eyes, coats, collars etc, these ABC will refer to these as “vanity traits”. Examples of ABC vanity traits are face markings, tails, eyes, breeds, manes and coats. You can breed for vanity traits and that’s fantastic. Most other Breedables in Second Life are doing only that.

The racing side of an ABC Horse has Skill Sets. These skill sets are the specific ability that the horse uses in horse competition. Each skill is trainable and has its own values. Each skill will be determined by the breed of the horse The Horse skills increase as the owner trains the horse over time. The owner must choose the trait that he/she wants to train.

The horse’s skill will only increase if the owner chooses that skill and trains that specific skill. If the owner neglects or chooses not to train a skill that skill will fall.

You can breed for vanity traits only or for skill sets only, or you can breed for an “Elite Horse” which is best of both worlds.

1. You can only race a horse for the first 90 days. Of those 90 days, the first 7 the horse is still growing.

2. If you breed this horse anywhere between days 7 – day 90, you cannot race the horse anymore.

The racing events are: Flat Racing (endurance), Thoroughbred, Sulkies, Steeple Chase, Sprint Racing, and Draft Pulls.

5. Jockeys and Caretakers

Let’s say you are too busy to race your horse; you can get a friend, family member, or hire a jockey to race your horse for you. There is also a feature called “caretaker” if you are gone on vacation/out of SL etc, you can assign someone to take care of your horse for you, including training it! (Note a caretaker can not train the ‘Pull’ skill)

Question: How many prims per horse?

Answer: 14 prims – Unless accessories are added then can be up to 20.

Question: How long do my horses live for?

Answer: Your ABC horses have 140 day life span.

Question: What happens when my horse is 140 days old?

Answer: When your horse reaches the end of its active life span, you have a few options. Cloud Ranch for points, shoot the horse for Cloud Ranch points, just Delete the horse and lastly you can turn your horse into a permanent pet and continue enjoying it.

Question: Can you breed a horse with a pony?

Answer: No, you can only breed a horse with another horse, and a pony with another pony.

Question: Is there a separate food for the Ponies?

Answer: No, ponies use the same food and consumables as the horses. No need to buy different food/consumables!

Question: Why are the starter horses 3 days old when delivered?

Answer: The starter horses come out at 3 days old since they have no mother to nurse them.

Question: Are there going to be different starter packs per breed?

Answer: The starter packs will have different breeds, but those are for cosmetic purposes only. It does NOT matter what your starter horse looks like because it will pull anything from the gene pool that is available at that time.

Question: Do starters have traits? How do traits pass over to the foals?

Answer: No, starter horses do not have traits. After a generation, traits can pass to foals.

Question: Why are my horses not looking like the parents, the starter horses?

Answer: Starter horses are just a tool, they are the access point to the gene pool.

Question: Say you come out with a new horse, a pinto. When I bought my starter horse, there weren’t pintos, if my starters are alive, do I have a chance?

Answer: Starter horses have the same 140 day life span as any other horse. Yes, every time a starter horse breeds, you have a chance of getting whatever is available in the gene pool at that time.

Question: Will traits like speed pass down?

Answer: Yes, it’s possible.

Question: I just got my starter packs, how do I set up my horses properly?

Answer: First you are going to want to set out your food. The Basic Starter packs contain 4 Horses (2 male & 2 female), 2 weeks of hay, and 2 weeks of salt. Setting out your hay and salt before setting out your horses is the ideal thing to do.

Question: Are there going to bundles?

Answer: No bundles, live births only.

Question: What are the default settings of my horses?

Answer: Motion OFF, Range 50M. Home is set upon rezzing your horses in world. Feed type: Hay. Sounds OFF.

Question: Can I ride these horses?

Answer: Yes you can! At the age of 7 the ABC horses may be ridden, you and your friends can enjoy the awesome seamless animations that have been custom designed to go along with the riding activities of your horses.

Question: If I turn my horse into a permanent pet will I need to buy pet food or pay extra to keep it?

Answer: Permanent Pet is FREE to do! There’s no special food to buy or price to pay to keep your ABC horse.

Question: Can I do anything else with my horses then just breed them?

Answer: Yes! ABC horses are designed to be more than just a vanity animal. There are numerous events and activities that they can participate in.

Question: What about naming my horse?

Answer: You must name a horse eligible for the ABC events such as racing or for it to breed. Within that first 7 days you can change the horses name as many times as you need to, after that the name will be locked in. Please keep this in mind when you’re naming your horses.

Question: How do I know that someone else won’t have a horse with the same name as mine?

Answer: The ABC servers will not allow for double names on horses, each name must be unique in its own.

Question: Can the horses die?

Answer: Yes, the horses can die from starvation or lifespan of 140 runs out. Horses that are at the end of their lifespan can either be sent to “Cloud Ranch” for points based on horse’s stats, or the horse can be turned into a “Permanent Pet”. The horse will still run, and retain the skill traits when they turned 140. A” Permanent Pet” will not require food and will be transferable. You have the option of Cloud Rancing, deleting or shooting it.

Question: Can any gun kill an ABC Horse?

Answer: No only an ABC gun will kill an ABC horse. ABC does provide the guns and ammo. Only the owner can shoot their own horse.

Question: If I Cloud Ranch, Shoot or Delete my horse can I get it back?

Answer: No, if you chose to terminate your horse then resurrection will not work.

Question: What do I do if the ABC Rifle doesn’t work for me?

::OVERVIEW::

These, like real life horses, must be fed and cared for or they will become sick and eventually die.

The ABC Shops carry all the various food, consumable, and medical supplies. Including a resurrection orb, this can be used to bring back a horse that dies from lack of food.

ABC foals are born live and they must be with their mothers for nourishment during their first three days (ages 0-2). At age three (3) they begin to eat on their own. Between the age of seven (7) and ninety your horses are eligible to race, as long as they haven’t bred.

ABC horses can be trained. There are numerous events they can participate in. Take a tour of your menu, testing out all the wonderful features available for further enjoyment of your awesome horse.

::GENERAL::

Food & Consumables v2.6

You must be registered for our Vendor/Quest system in order to use this exciting new feature.

Once registered, you will be able to use our vendors, located inside our main shop on the ABC sim and at the many ABC satellite shops.

Simply right click and buy the item that you want. Once you have accepted your purchase, you will automatically receive your Quest credits for your purchase(s). If you should make a MP purchase of your items, you must rez the box out in-world to have the credit added to your account.

When you receive your purchase, you will have a box in your inventory that contains “shells” of the item you bought. These “shells” are the delivery system to feed/care for your horses using the products that you have bought and have credit for on our website. The total amount of food that you purchased will be credited to your online account. As your horses use these items, the count will go down. However, as long as you keep your account full, you will never need to replace the “shell”.

Our consumables will work the same way that they always have. Once the consumable is used its “shell” will disappear. However, as with the food, you will be able to see your remaining amount of consumables on the website. When you have used your last consumable the shell will not disappear, it will remain on the ground with a note in red hover text to let you know that you have run out of that consumable in your account.

You will always receive an equal amount of shells to the amount that you have purchased. If you should find that you have lost shells and need a replacement, there is a Shell vendor located in the main shop.

You can always check the amount of food/consumables in your account by visiting MyABC or by purchasing the in-world “Consumable Status” item in our shops. It will update your account totals every 30 minutes or when you click on the item.

Salt Licks are needed for happiness and should always be available to your horses.

If you see red hover text the owner needs to re-rezz the Pony. If a caretaker notices red hover text they can submit a ticket for investigation.

Resurrection

Resurrection brings back a dead Pony and gives fifty (50) % hunger back. No other stats or traits return to previous settings. All settings have to be re-set by the Owner. This applies for a dead Pony only. NOTE: If a Pony has been shot this procedure will not work.

ABC Pony Training Manual

**General instructions for training**

* Your Pony must eat Feed to train: Pull, Speed, Stamina, Sprint or Jump.

* Rezz out a bag of Feed within range of your Pony. Set your Pony to eat Feed and make sure that it eats some. Your Pony must eat a bite of Feed before training or your Pony will not go up in skill stats. If you have been training for around 10 minutes and have seen no increase in the skill stat then your Pony has not eaten the Feed.

*Turn off and remove any Animation Override’s (AO’s) you are wearing, right-click your Pony and “Ride” your Pony (Do NOT wear from inventory).

* Left-click your Pony and choose Training on the menu, then the skill you want to train, your Pony will tell you in local chat:

“Your Pony Name: This Pony is now training for stamina”

The hover text will change to orange.

Note: if your Pony is already has orange text saying its set to train in the skill you want to train, you will need to select it again to activate training.

* Press Page Down on your keyboard to toggle the Pony to running mode (it will tell you in local chat that it’s in running mode). Your Pony has to be in running mode for its skill stats to increase.

* Your Pony is controlled by the arrow keys on your keyboard or the ‘WASD’ keys. Keep your Pony moving to train it, do not stop until your Pony “talks” to you. Watch local chat for information regarding your Pony.

* Your Pony will tell you in local chat when it has gained a skill level by one point:

“Your Pony Name”: Skill Update:: Sprint : 1 / 41.”

*When your Pony is tired and needs to rest you will see this in local chat:

“Your Pony Name: The Pony completed its training period. Now it is in Cool-Down mode.”

*During Cool-Down the Hover text will go green, when your Pony has rested sufficiently its hover text will change from green to white and will be ready for its next training session.

**Special Instructions for Jump Training**

NOTE: If you are training on a prim ground surface or platform your land must have the following land settings:

About Land > Options > “No Pushing” must NOT be ticked.

When you press page up to jump, your Pony will not jump up like it does when you’re riding and training on the natural ground.

*If you are training jump then you need to make your Pony jump to train it, press your ‘page up’ key on your keyboard and make the Pony jump as you run along, its easiest to do this in a flat open area, without trying to jump anything in your way, if your Pony has just started training it may not be able to jump very high.

**Special Instructions for Sled & Cart Training**

* Follow the instructions above to place your Pony into training mode for “Pull”

* Left-click on your Pony and choose Equipment. Choose “Sled” or “Cart” the Pony will rezz out a Sled or Cart behind the Pony. Wait for your Sled/Cart to fully rezz out, give it 10 seconds after you see if fully rezzed before you go to the next step.

* “Stand Up” From your Pony.

* Right click on your Pony and “Take” it to your inventory. Then right click and wear it from inventory.

* Allow the Pony 15 seconds to load before you move or do anything. Do not move until you can touch the Pony and get the drop down menu.

* Right click on the Sled/Cart and “Ride”. Your avatar will sit on the sled/cart and the Pony will position itself in the harness.

Note: if your Pony is already has orange text saying it’s in the skill you want to train, you may need to tell it again.

*Your Pony must be running for skill levels to go up.
